Racing Incident Report

NANNING TREASURE jumped awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of ONLY THE BRAVE. AMIABLE was slowly away. On jumping, JOYFUL STAR and SUPER GAIN came together. CHAMPION BOMB missed the start, then for some distance near the 200 Metres CHAMPION BOMB had trouble obtaining clear running. About the 700 Metres, NATURAL CLASSIC became unbalanced and lost its position when crowded for room between ONLY THE BRAVE and SUPER GAIN which shifted out slightly from behind AMIABLE. Just after the 600 Metres, JOYFUL STAR shifted out from behind NOBLE BOY, this caused some inconvenience to EVERWELL FOREVER. On straightening, EVERWELL FOREVER became unbalanced when bumped by AMIABLE. In the early part of the Straight, DANETOP was awkwardly placed on the heels of NOBLE BOY and tight inside AMIABLE. Apprentice Y T Cheng (NANNING TREASURE) explained in the early stages he settled the horse in a rearward position in accordance with the instructions he had been given. He said the horse however was not travelling as expected and in the Straight NANNING TREASURE had a tendency to race ungenerously with its head up, in addition to this in the early part of the Straight he had trouble obtaining clear running, but then in the run to the winning post the horse did not find the line as generously as he expected it would. When questioned, Apprentice C P Ting (KING'S GLAMOUR) said he had been instructed by the Assistant Trainer to ensure the horse from a good gate jumped well and took up a good position. Apprentice C P Ting said he had been given similar instructions when he rode the horse at its last run, but on that day KING'S GLAMOUR had missed the start. Mr Manfred Man, Assistant Trainer to Trainer J Moore, confirmed the instructions he had given and said the Trainer today from a good gate and with the 10 pound allowance was anxious to take advantage of these factors and he confirmed he had instructed Apprentice C P Ting to ensure the horse jumped well and ride it in about 2nd or 3rd position if possible. The explanations tendered by Mr Man and Apprentice Ting were accepted. JOYFUL STAR was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
