Racing Incident Report

GOLD SADDLE jumped very awkwardly, threw its head about and lost a lot of ground. The performance of GOLD SADDLE was considered by the Stewards to be unacceptable. Before it can race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. Near the 1000 Metres, PLENTY WIN, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when awkwardly placed on the heels of LITTLE PLAYTHING. Approaching and rounding the Home Turn, HUANGDI, which had been obliged to race wide, hung out. Near the 200 Metres, MIGHTY AND GOLD, which was giving ground, was steadied when crowded by KIMBO BELL which shifted in to find running and go forward. Over about the last 200 Metres, TELECOM CHIEF, which was finding the line strongly, had difficulty obtaining clear running. In the Straight, SING SING SING hung in. W C Marwing (LASER PRIDE) said the intention today, with the weight the horse was being asked to carry, was to try and find cover. He said however shortly after the start his saddle shifted back and he had little alternative but to let the horse run along in a forward position without cover. He said in the Straight he waited as long as he can, because of the problem with his saddle, before putting the horse under full pressure. FAIRWAY FINDER was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, it was noted that TELECOM CHIEF had sustained a laceration to its off side hind pastern.
