Racing Incident Report
SPEED WINNER was presented in the Parade Ring fitted with a ring bit which was not part of that horse's declared gear. Permission was given for SPEED WINNER to run with this gear. Trainer T K Ng was fined $2,000 for negligently presenting SPEED WINNER in the Parade Ring with other than its approved gear. After being boxed, JOYFUL SPIRIT became fractious, reared and momentarily had a leg caught on a partition. The horse was released from the gates, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations was passed suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, JOYFUL SPIRIT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. Also after being boxed, EAST OCEAN DRAGON became very fractious, reared and was temporarily cast. The horse was released from the gates and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Before being allowed to run again, EAST OCEAN DRAGON will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. When EAST OCEAN DRAGON reared, it came down on the neck of SHABU SHABU. SHABU SHABU was released from the gates, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and following the necessary consultations it was decided that the horse was suitable to race. STRAIGHT SCOTCH left the gates very awkwardly, shifted out and bumped CHAMP DRAGON. STRAIGHT SCOTCH then tailed out. The performance of the horse was considered unacceptable. Before it can race again, STRAIGHT SCOTCH must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. MAIN ATTRACTION was slowly away. HOWSON left the gates very awkwardly and threw its head about. SUPER SIXTY-SIX left the gates awkwardly, then in the early and middle stages raced greenly and shifted ground. In the early stages, AMERICAN DEVIL pulled very hard and proved difficult to settle. About the 800 Metres, WISE CHOICE hung in away from GOLDEN GONG, this caused some crowding to SPEED WINNER. Near the 400 Metres, SUPER SIXTY-SIX and GOLDEN GONG brushed.
