Racing Incident Report

GRANDIOSO left the gates very awkwardly and threw its head up, as a consequence of this lost ground. On jumping, TOYMARK was crowded for room between CONVERGENCE which shifted in and INDUBITABLY BLISS which shifted out. At the start, UNIVERSAL CHARGER and SPLENDID STAR bumped. At about the 800 Metres, COURAGE STAR was checked when awkwardly placed between the hindquarters of GIFT and LOMOND'S FAY. In the early part of the Straight, TOYMARK and SPRING FOUNTAIN came together. About the 200 Metres, CLASSIC MASTER was steadied as GOLDEN YEARS shifted in. In the run to the winning post, GIFT had a tendency to lay out. Whilst the Stewards considered the riding of K S Yu (LOMOND'S FAY) in the run to the line did not affect the horse's finishing position and accordingly a breach of Rule 100(2) did not occur, they did however advise K S Yu he must ride all mounts out at least hands and heels right to the winning post whenever possible. After the race, it was reported that TOYMARK was bleeding from both nostrils. Also after the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported GOLDEN YEARS was showing signs of the thumps. Before being permitted to race again, GOLDEN YEARS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
