Racing Incident Report

HAPPY ECLIPSE was withdrawn on 16.6.03 on veterinary grounds (left fore cannon fracture) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter BAYVIEW LAD (Apprentice M W Leung). Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY ECLIPSE will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. BROSE'S HONOR was slow to begin and then was bumped by JUMBO LUCK which shifted in abruptly after blundering. SPORT SEEKER began awkwardly, then over the final 600 Metres hung in and proved difficult to ride. For some distance near the 1000 Metres, FLYING FAST proved difficult to settle and got its head up. JUMBO LUCK, which was following, was inconvenienced and shifted wider. Near the 400 Metres, BROSE'S HONOR was crowded for room when endeavouring to shift to the outside of BAYVIEW LAD and tight inside SPORT SEEKER. Shortly after straightening, BROSE'S HONOR was shifted to the inside of GUSCOTT to find clear running. When being shifted in, BROSE'S HONOUR brushed BAYVIEW LAD. G Mossé (BROSE'S HONOR) explained after the 200 Metres he was aware there was clear running in front of him between HANDSOME MAN and STAR OF TAI PO, however, as he commenced to improve towards that run, BAYVIEW LAD which was racing to his inside commenced to shift out. He said to ensure the momentum of BROSE'S HONOUR was not impeded, he elected to shift his mount to the outside of STAR OF TAI PO to ensure it had clear running over the concluding stages. The explanations submitted by G Mossé were accepted. STAR OF TAI PO and BROSE'S HONOR were sent for sampling.
