Racing Incident Report
SERIOUS PLAY and GREEN CENTURY were slow to begin. GOOD TRIO was a little slow to begin and then shortly after the start was steadied when crowded for room between EVER SUCCESS and SENSIBLE WAY which got its head on the side and shifted in. On jumping, BOBO WIN was bumped by VICTORY MARBLE which shifted out. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, SNIPPEDYDOODA hung out. In the middle stages, GREEN CENTURY hung out. Making the Home Turn, ENTERTAINING was reluctant to hold its position when momentarily tight inside SENSIBLE WAY which got its head on the side and shifted in momentarily. In the early part of the Straight, GREEN CENTURY was held up and unable to obtain clear running behind BOBO WIN. Near the 200 Metres, VICTORY MARBLE was steadied when tightened for room between SENSIBLE WAY and GREEN CENTURY (W M Lai) which shifted to the inside of BOBO WIN to go forward when not properly clear W M Lai was severely reprimanded and told to exercise more care. Shortly after this, VICTORY MARBLE was again steadied when disappointed for running between SENSIBLE WAY and DELIGHTFUL WIN which was carried in slightly by GOOD TRIO which in turn was carried in by LUCKY STALLION. No action was taken. In this incident, DELIGHTFUL WIN was also steadied and shifted out. W Woods (TRIUMPHANT MASTER) said he had been instructed by the trainer from a wide barrier today to ensure his horse was properly settled and with cover. He said when TRIUMPHANT MASTER had drawn a more favourable gate, the horse was ridden further forward, however, today on jumping he immediately steadied his mount and shifted across behind runners to a position on the rail but near the rear. He said during the run he followed GOOD TRIO, however, in the Straight he remained on the rail in the hope of obtaining a run through the field and when this did not eventuate, at no stage of the Straight was he able to place his mount under pressure and consequently it was not tested. T Mundry (EVER SUCCESS) explained after the 800 Metres his mount was inclined to be shifting out away from GOOD TRIO which was endeavouring to shift away from the rail. He said in an attempt to have his mount hold its position he showed it the whip in his left hand for some distance. GOOD TRIO was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. A veterinary examination of GOOD TRIO after the race did not show any significant findings. WINTROW and GREEN CENTURY were sent for sampling.
