Racing Incident Report

EXCEL TRADER proved difficult in the parade and then when being led from the Parade Ring reared over on top of K S Yu, its rider. EXCEL TRADER then broke free and galloped back to the sand yard. Acting on advice from the Veterinary Surgeon that EXCEL TRADER was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the horse. Mr B K Ng, the trainer of EXCEL TRADER, advised the Stewards he has spoken with the owner who wished to take a few days to consider whether or not he would retire the horse. The Stewards advised Mr Ng that before EXCEL TRADER will be permitted to race again, it will be required to perform to the Stewards' satisfaction in a pre-race parade and an official barrier trial. BRILLIANT began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. CHING HOI BOY was slow to muster speed. On jumping, SPECTACULAR HIT bounded in the air. Also on jumping, TELECOM TYCOON shifted out, causing FLYING KENNY to be carried out across the running of MAGNIFICENT which after being slow to begin was checked. In the early stages, SOLAR and MAGNIFICENT proved difficult to settle. After the 1400 Metres, ATHLETIC GOLD was steadied away from the heels of PRINCE GOLF which shifted in when barely clear. Near the 300 Metres, CHING HOI BOY was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running between ATHLETIC GOLD and HONEY MONEY which shifted out. Shortly afterwards, CHING HOI BOY was again steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between DONGGUAN VICTORY and ATHLETIC GOLD. When shifting in, CHING HOI BOY made contact with HONEY MONEY and then over the concluding stages hung in. W C Marwing (SOLAR) said he had ridden the horse at track work on one occasion leading into today's race and in his opinion this work was somewhat one-paced and not overly impressive. He said during the horse's preliminary the horse did not appear to be striding out well and after arriving at the Start he requested the horse be examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said when trotted up behind the gates the horse did not appear abnormal in its action and was not lame and therefore he expressed an opinion to the Veterinary Surgeon that he was happy to ride the horse who in turn passed the horse as suitable to race. He said SOLAR got well back in the run as it had done at its previous starts, at stages tended to over-race and in the Straight did not respond to his riding. He said the horse appeared normal following the race. SOLAR was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, SOLAR was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said it did have some blood in its trachea, the significance of which was questionable. ACE ACADEMY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of ACE ACADEMY after the race did not show any significant findings. PRINCE GOLF and TELECOM TYCOON were sent for sampling.
