Racing Incident Report

OLIVE OR TWIST was slow to begin. CAPABEL was a little slow to begin and shortly afterwards was steadied away from the heels of GOOD FRIENDS. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, TOUCH DOWN became momentarily unbalanced when awkwardly placed inside the heels of HAPPY TOGETHER. OLIVE OR TWIST, which was racing inside TOUCH DOWN, was crowded for room as a result. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, FOREVER WIN and GOLDEN SPIRIT came together. D Dunn (HAPPY TOGETHER) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 150 Metres he shifted his mount to the outside of BUDDIES SPIRIT to obtain clear running, in doing so carried FOREVER WIN away from running to which it was rightfully entitled, resulting in that horse being checked to avoid the heels of HAPPY KID. D Dunn was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 21 October 2004 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin meeting next Saturday 9 October 2004. In addition, D Dunn was fined $25,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. Near the 100 Metres, TOUCH DOWN, which was closing the race off strongly, was steadied and shifted to the inside of GOLDEN SPIRIT which was giving ground. BUDDIES SPIRIT was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BUDDIES SPIRIT after the race did not show any significant findings. FOREVER WIN, SIXTY SECONDS and HAPPY TOGETHER were sent for sampling.
