Racing Incident Report
Prior to leaving the saddling stalls, a nail was replaced on the left fore plate of FAIR WIN. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. JOY AND TREASURE began awkwardly and lost ground. LOK WAH SUCCESS was slow to begin. DEVON FLAIR began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped TAIJI SPIRIT. With an intention to be ridden in a rearward position from the outside gate, TOP HEALTH on jumping got its head up, lost ground and was then shifted across behind runners. Near the 800 Metres, TAIJI SPIRIT lost its position when crowded for room between BULLISH KID which after initially being carried in slightly by ATHLETIC GOLD shifted in away from that horse and MAGIC TOUCH which shifted out after making contact with HEROIC ATTRIBUTE. In the circumstances, no action was taken. DEVON FLAIR, which was following TAIJI SPIRIT, was checked to avoid that horse's heels. In the middle stages, ROYAL EXCHANGE got its head up and hung out. Making the Home Turn, TROPHY hung out. Shortly after straightening, TOP HEALTH was bumped by TAIJI SPIRIT which was endeavouring to obtain clear running between that horse and ATHLETIC GOLD. TAIJI SPIRIT was then disappointed for this run and shifted back in. After the 400 Metres, TURF GOLD, which was held up and unable to obtain clear running, endeavoured to shift to the outside of TROPHY. When endeavouring to shift out, TURF GOLD made contact with FAIR WIN and was then disappointed for running between that horse and TROPHY. After the 200 Metres, MAGIC TOUCH was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of LOK WAH SUCCESS which shifted to the outside of FLASH HARRY to find clear running. For some distance after the 100 Metres, MAGIC TOUCH was not able to obtain clear running between FLASH HARRY and LOK WAH SUCCESS. Apprentice M W Leung (DEVON FLAIR) said in the early part of the Straight the horse was hanging in and it took him some time to be able to shift it to the outside of TOP HEALTH into clear running. He said after he did this DEVON FLAIR was inconvenienced on two occasions by TOP HEALTH which at this time shifted out away from ATHLETIC GOLD which was giving ground. He said after the 200 Metres he changed the whip into his right hand, he was then able to ride the horse out to the end of the race and the horse closed off nicely. ROYAL EXCHANGE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ROYAL EXCHANGE after the race did not show any significant findings. FAIR WIN and HEROIC ATTRIBUTE were sent for sampling.
