Racing Incident Report

On jumping, EXULTATION got its head up and lost ground. KOWLOON STAR began awkwardly and lost ground. SEASONS TREASURE was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, SEASONS TREASURE and FLASH HARRY were crowded for room inside DOUBLE DIP which was carried in by TRIUMPHANT GLORY which on jumping shifted ground. Shortly after this incident, FLASH HARRY was checked when crowded for room between FIRST AMONG EQUALS and DOUBLE DIP which shifted in further away from TRIUMPHANT GLORY. W Smith (TRIUMPHANT GLORY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1200 Metres he shifted his mount in when not clear of INSIDE MAIL, causing that horse to be carried in across the rightful running of BOWIN which as a result was checked. In the circumstances of this case, the Stewards believed the appropriate penalty was for W Smith to be suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday 29 February 2004 on which day he may resume race riding (4 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley meeting next Wednesday 11 February 2004. Near the 800 Metres, DOUBLE DIP, which was proving difficult to settle, became unbalanced when close to the heels of AURELIAN. After the 800 Metres, TRIUMPHANT GLORY was checked away from the heels of SUPER PRINCE which was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of KOWLOON STAR and tight inside AURELIAN. For some distance approaching and passing the 600 Metres, INSIDE MAIL, which was proving difficult to settle, was awkwardly placed inside the heels of DOUBLE DIP. After the 500 Metres, FIRST AMONG EQUALS was awkwardly placed close to the heels of NOBLE MAN and tight inside BOWIN. After straightening, EXULTATION was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of FIRST AMONG EQUALS. Shortly after straightening, SUPER PRINCE and AURELIAN were crowded for room inside FLASH HARRY which shifted ground when hanging. After the 300 Metres, SEASONS TREASURE was steadied and shifted to the outside of NATIVE LANGUAGE when disappointed for running between that horse and FIRST AMONG EQUALS. Near the 200 Metres, AURELIAN, which was giving ground, was momentarily steadied when crowded for room between SUPER PRINCE and FLASH HARRY which was also giving ground. Over the final 200 Metres, SEASONS TREASURE hung in. Near the 100 Metres, DOUBLE DIP was bumped by EXULTATION which in turn was brushed and carried in by NATIVE LANGUAGE which shifted in when giving ground. NATIVE LANGUAGE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of NATIVE LANGUAGE after the race did not show any significant findings. FIRST AMONG EQUALS and BOWIN were sent for sampling.
