Racing Incident Report

DASHING WINNER and CHIU CHOW BROTHER were slow to begin. On jumping, MILITARY OPTION knuckled, then shortly afterwards was checked when crowded for room between TRAVEL LEADER which was carried out by DANEHILL WARRIOR and DELIGHTFUL WIN which was carried in by KIDDYLAND which shifted ground after being bumped by NOBLE CHAMPION. Shortly after the start, HARVEST was steadied away from the heels of WYNDAM EASY which shifted in when only just clear. After the 1200 Metres, TRAVEL LEADER and MILITARY OPTION were crowded for room inside DASHING WINNER which was momentarily carried in by BEAR DOMINANCE (R Fradd). R Fradd relieved this crowding as soon as it could be reasonably expected. In the middle stages, HARVEST hung in. In the Straight, NOBLE CHAMPION got its head on the side and hung in. As Mr D A Hayes, trainer of WYNDAM EASY, had left the course, the Stewards allowed Mr A Lee, his assistant trainer, an opportunity of explaining the horse's improved performance against its last run when beaten 11 lengths. Mr Lee said at the horse's last start the track was rain affected, the field raced wide and this did not suit WYNDAM EASY which has a tendency to hang in. He pointed out horses by RORY'S JESTER generally do not handle rain affected ground. He said today WYNDAM EASY was able to begin well, worked forward and crossed BEARCAT in the lead and clearly appreciated racing on today's track surface and against the rail where the horse does not hang in noticeably. The explanation of Mr Lee was accepted. DELIGHTFUL WIN was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, it was reported that DELIGHTFUL WIN had bled from both nostrils. WYNDAM EASY and BEARCAT were sent for sampling.
