Racing Incident Report

COOL SWING bounded in the air when the gates opened and on jumping stumbled. On jumping BRAVE COMMANDER was bumped by FIRST ON which shifted in. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, COOL SWING hung out badly. Near the 600 Metres, ADD THE FUN was checked when crowded for room by NOBLE VICTORY which shifted in when being steadied away from the heels of TABBRIS. No action was taken. In the middle stages, NOBLE VICTORY hung out and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of TABBRIS. After the 400 Metres, MULTI MILLIONS was steadied away from the heels of FOR YOUR EYES ONLY which at this time shifted to the outside of WINNING POWER into clear running. In the Straight, TABBRIS hung in and proved somewhat difficult to ride. T Mundry (ADD THE FUN) said the intention had been to ride the horse in 3rd, 4th or 5th position. He said the horse began fairly, but then did not show the necessary pace to obtain a forward position and consequently got well back. He said ADD THE FUN did not appear to appreciate racing inside horses, making the turn after the 800 Metres hung out and continued to do so until after straightening. He said after straightening he rode ADD THE FUN along, however, the horse did not respond and he continued to ride hands and heels until after the 200 Metres when the horse was close to the heels of NOBLE VICTORY and TABBRIS which were giving ground. He said he therefore did not ride the horse out to the end of the race and in his opinion it at this time was "empty". He added ADD THE FUN will be better suited over a distance further than today's 1200 Metres. ADD THE FUN was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. A veterinary examination of ADD THE FUN after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of ADD THE FUN was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ADD THE FUN will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. D Whyte (MULTI MILLIONS) said the horse usually is on the toe when parading behind the barriers, however, today the horse was more fractious than in the past. He said after beginning well from a wide barrier, he was able to obtain a nice position, in the middle stages MULTI MILLIONS was inclined to hang out, then in the Straight did not stretch out as he thought it should. He said he was unable to offer any explanation for the performance of MULTI MILLIONS. The performance of MULTI MILLIONS was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MULTI MILLIONS will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MULTI MILLIONS was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. A veterinary examination of MULTI MILLIONS after the race did not show any significant findings. SHOGUN and WINNING POWER were sent for sampling. After the race, FOR YOUR EYES ONLY was noted to be lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, FOR YOUR EYES ONLY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
