Racing Incident Report

WADADELIGHT bounded in the air at the start and lost ground. On jumping, SUPER DANA blundered. WAVY PEAK was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was steadied away from the heels of TEA FOR CHAMP. Shortly after the start, MAIN ATTRACTION was steadied when crowded for room between SUPER DANA which shifted out and CUPID which was taken in by MAGIC TEMPLE. Making the first turn, WAVY PEAK proved difficult to settle, got its head up and shifted out away from the heels of CUPID. As a result, MAIN ATTRACTION was carried wider. Near the 1600 Metres, WAVY PEAK was checked to avoid the heels of SUPER DANA which when not quite clear was carried in by MAGIC TEMPLE (W Woods) which itself shifted in. In the circumstances, W Woods was severely reprimanded and told he would be expected to exercise more care. At the 1300 Metres, WADADELIGHT, which was hanging out, struck the heels of MADE IN HONGKONG and blundered. In the lead up to this incident, WADADELIGHT had been awkwardly placed close to the heels of MADE IN HONGKONG. BOUNTIFUL and SHOW BRAVELY, which were following, were checked in consequence. Making the turn after the 1200 Metres, WAVY PEAK, which continued to prove difficult to settle, shifted to the outside of CUPID. As a result of this, MAIN ATTRACTION was again carried wider. Near the 1000 Metres, ELITE WIN (Apprentice H W Lai), which was leading, was steadied. As a consequence of this, interference was caused to a number of runners, the worse sufferers being OLIVE OR TWIST, MADE IN HONGKONG and WADADELIGHT, all of which were checked. Apprentice Lai was told in similar circumstances he should not steady the pace in the manner in which he did on this occasion, particularly when racing in the lead. In the middle stages, MAGIC TEMPLE proved difficult to settle. At the 700 Metres, OLIVE OR TWIST was checked when crowded for room inside ENORMOUS WAY which was carried in by MAGIC TEMPLE which at this time was carried in slightly by CUPID (Apprentice P H Lo) which itself shifted in slightly. Having considered all the circumstances of this case, the Stewards believed it was appropriate to issue Apprentice Lo a severe reprimand. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, BOUNTIFUL hung in. At the 600 Metres, SHOW BRAVELY was steadied away from the heels of MAIN ATTRACTION. On straightening, WADADELIGHT was steadied and shifted to the outside of MAIN ATTRACTION. OLIVE OR TWIST and ENORMOUS WAY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of OLIVE OR TWIST and ENORMOUS WAY after the race did not show any significant findings. BOUNTIFUL and SHOW BRAVELY were sent for sampling.
