Racing Incident Report

FREE WAY began awkwardly. On jumping, ARIGATO was bumped by BRILLIANT WIN which itself shifted in after being bumped by WINNING ATTORNEY which shifted in. Approaching the turn at the 600 Metres, NEWSWIRE hung in, shifted ground and caused crowding on its inside to BRILLIANT WIN and GLOBE MARK. WINNING ATTORNEY, which was following, was steadied in consequence, shifted in and caused some inconvenience to ARIGATO which was racing on its inside. SPOKESMAN made the turn at the 600 Metres awkwardly. After the 600 Metres, BRILLIANT WIN got its head up, hung out and carried NEWSWIRE which had been racing without cover wider. On straightening and in the early part of the Straight, NEWSWIRE and BRILLIANT WIN bumped on several occasions. After the 200 Metres, NEWSWIRE was steadied to avoid the heels of WINNING ATTORNEY which shifted in. Near the 100 Metres, SPOKESMAN was shifted to the inside of BACK SEAT DRIVER to continue going forward. Near the 100 Metres, FREE WAY was bumped and carried wider by PEPPERONI which shifted out away from BACK SEAT DRIVER which itself was shifting ground. Near the winning post, PEPPERONI was steadied when crowded for room between FREE WAY and BACK SEAT DRIVER which shifted further. SUPER WINNER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SUPER WINNER after the race did not show any significant findings. CAPITAL GAIN was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, CAPITAL GAIN was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed some mucus in the horse's upper trachea and nasal passages. Before being allowed to race again, CAPITAL GAIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FREE WAY and BACK SEAT DRIVER were sent for sampling.
