Racing Incident Report

SPECTACULAR HIT bounded in the air at the start and lost a considerable amount of ground. DANRIVA and THAT'S IT were slow to begin. MR BEAUTIFUL began awkwardly and lost ground. For a considerable distance after the 1600 Metres, THUNDER MAN, which was proving difficult to settle, was steadied when awkwardly placed between DESERT STRIKE and FORTUNE GOLD. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, ELFHELM was steadied away from the heels of THUNDER MAN. Making the turn near the 1300 Metres, MR BEAUTIFUL, which was proving very difficult to settle, got its head up when awkwardly placed inside the heels of FORTUNE GOLD. On straightening, DANRIVA was steadied and shifted to the outside of THAT'S IT, then over the concluding stages hung in and proved difficult to ride. At the 250 Metres, C Soumillon (DORDENMA) dropped his whip. For a considerable distance after the 200 Metres, SUPER DANA was awkwardly placed inside the heels of QI'S PET. Over the final 100 Metres, HAPPY CONTENDER, which was closing the race off strongly, was steadied when not able to continue improving between DESERT STRIKE and MR BEAUTIFUL. Because of this, HAPPY CONTENDER was not fully tested. When questioned, C Soumillon said prior to the race he had been told the horse at its most recent start when racing inside runners was not comfortable and on that occasion when the pace steadied DORDENMA was carried back in the field. He said because of this he was tonight told to ride DORDENMA which has a long stride away from the fence and to ensure it had clear running. He said because of this approaching the winning post on the first occasion despite there being an opportunity available for him to shift to the rail, he instead allowed SUPER DANA to cross him, shift to a position behind QI'S PET and then race on the outside of SUPER DANA. Mr C H Yip, the trainer of DORDENMA, said prior to the race the owner of the horse had spoken with C Soumillon in his presence and it was her wish that the horse remained racing away from the rail to ensure it was not held up. FORTUNE GOLD was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE GOLD after the race did not show any significant findings. ELFHELM and DORDENMA were sent for sampling.
