Racing Incident Report

REUNION and BULLET TRAIN were slow to begin. On jumping, MILLION CHASE and FUNTRAP bumped. Also on jumping HAPPY SUNDAY and CHOICE AND CHANCE bumped. On jumping, LA TACHE was steadied after being bumped by FLYING DAGGER which shifted in. From the outside barrier, after beginning well, SOUTHERN LIGHT was steadied and shifted across behind runners to a position closer to the rail. Near the 800 Metres, CHOICE AND CHANCE was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of HAPPY SUNDAY. After the 700 Metres, REUNION and MILLION CHASE were momentarily crowded for room inside HAPPY SUNDAY which shifted in. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, REUNION hung out. Near the 250 Metres, REUNION and HAPPY SUNDAY bumped. From near the 200 Metres until after the 100 Metres, MANIFEST was held up and unable to improve inside GOLDEN FARM. Over the concluding stages, SOUTHERN LIGHT hung in. Throughout the race, FLYING DAGGER raced wide and without cover. While the Stewards were satisfied the riding of MANIFEST (C Soumillon) over the concluding stages did not affect the horse's placing, they nonetheless told C Soumillon he is where circumstances permit to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the winning post. A Delpech (LA TACHE) explained on straightening he shifted his mount out in an endeavour to obtain clear running, however, was unable to do so when CHOICE AND CHANCE which was racing to his outside held its line. He said after this LA TACHE hung in badly and despite his efforts to shift out into clear running, the horse was reluctant to do so. He said because of this he was disadvantaged in riding LA TACHE out until the concluding stages. FLYING DAGGER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FLYING DAGGER after the race did not show any significant findings. REUNION, FUNTRAP and SOUTHERN LIGHT were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 8 December 2005)
FLYING DAGGER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. FLYING DAGGER was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A S Cruz this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, FLYING DAGGER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
