Racing Incident Report

On jumping, CHOSEN ONE blundered. Shortly after the start, BINGSON and VITAL PATROL were checked severely and GREAT IDEA checked when these runners were crowded for room between FIGHT BACK and MAJIN BUU (Apprentice C K Tong) which got its head on the side and shifted in. The Stewards were satisfied Apprentice Tong had endeavoured to straighten his mount, therefore no action was taken. After the 900 Metres, CHOSEN ONE was steadied away from the heels of MAJIN BUU which shifted in when only just clear. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, VITAL PATROL got its head on the side, hung out and was steadied away from the heels of PERSEVERANCE. After this, VITAL PATROL continued to hang out. At the 600 Metres, GREAT IDEA was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of WAFER KING. Making the Home Turn, MAJIN BUU was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LUCKY DANSKE when racing tight inside CANNONISE. Apprentice Tong was advised to ensure he left himself comfortable racing room. On straightening, MAJIN BUU was bumped by CANNONISE. In the early part of the Straight, HK ISLAND VICTORY was held up for clear running. Near the 300 Metres, VITAL PATROL was steadied and shifted in to avoid the heels of GLOBE RIVER which drifted out. Near the 200 Metres, MAJIN BUU was bumped by HK ISLAND VICTORY which when shifting towards the outside of LUCKY DANSKE into clear running was carried out further by that horse. No action was taken. Over about the final 100 Metres, VITAL PATROL was held up and unable to obtain clear running inside HK ISLAND VICTORY and behind CLASSIC HORSE which was giving ground. Because of this, VITAL PATROL was not properly tested. Over about the final 50 Metres, GLOBE RIVER was unable to obtain clear running outside the heels of CANNONISE and inside CHOSEN ONE which shifted in slightly. After the 50 Metres, GLOBE RIVER was struck over the head by the whip of D Holland (CHOSEN ONE), shortly after this the right arm of D Holland made contact with GLOBE RIVER in the vicinity of the head. The Stewards could not be satisfied D Holland intentionally made contact with GLOBE RIVER with his arm, however, he was told in all circumstances he is to do his utmost to prevent any part of his body coming into contact with another runner. D Holland was also told his conduct during an inquiry into this incident bordered on being unacceptable and he was to ensure he conducted himself appropriately at all times. Just prior to the winning post, GLOBE RIVER was checked when disappointed for running between CHOSEN ONE and CANNONISE which at this time shifted out. LUCKY DANSKE and CANNONISE were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 27 January 2005)
