Racing Incident Report

LUCKY GUYS was withdrawn on 3.3.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (significant blood in the trachea on post-exercise scoping) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FRIENDS FOREVER. Before being permitted to race again, LUCKY GUYS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When entering the track from the Parade Ring, DESERT STRIKE became fractious and made heavy contact with a rail on two occasions. DESERT STRIKE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse was slightly lame behind and in his opinion was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of DESERT STRIKE. Before being allowed to race again, DESERT STRIKE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. KING OF SPADES was slow to begin and bumped with FRIENDS FOREVER. Near the 1100 Metres, FRIENDS FOREVER, which was racing ungenerously, was steadied away from the heels of BULLISH GENERAL. On straightening, SWEETIE had difficulty obtaining clear running between KNIGHT TEMPLAR and FORTUNE WARRIOR. For some distance after straightening, ELITE WIN was held up and unable to improve between STRONG GALLOP and KNIGHT TEMPLAR. Near the 300 Metres, ELITE WIN was checked when disappointed for running between those horses as a result of KNIGHT TEMPLAR shifting out after being bumped by SWEETIE. For some distance after this, ELITE WIN continued to be held up and unable to obtain clear running until near the 100 Metres when it was shifted to the inside of FORTUNE WARRIOR. Because of this, ELITE WIN was not properly tested. In the early part of the Straight, GOLD SANDFIELD hung in and because of this after the 400 Metres G Mossé, its rider, changed the whip into his right hand. Near the 300 Metres, KING OF SPADES was steadied and shifted to the outside of HARRY HARRY to obtain clear running. GOLD SANDFIELD, SPEEDING MOLLY and BULLISH GENERAL were sent for sampling.
