Racing Incident Report
KOWLOON TREASURE was withdrawn on 8.3.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (dull and inappetant) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter CHAMP DE UNION (S Dye). Before being allowed to race again, KOWLOON TREASURE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After being boxed, GRASS HOPPER became fractious, kicked out behind and struck the back gates of its stall. GRASS HOPPER was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said the horse had sustained lacerations to the left hind leg and in his opinion was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of GRASS HOPPER. Before being allowed to race again, GRASS HOPPER will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Also after being boxed, DANEMAN HILL was very fractious. Before being allowed to race again, DANEMAN HILL will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. When the gates opened, FANTASTICO bounded in the air and lost ground. HAPPY ALL AROUND was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, DRAGON HORSE became unbalanced and lost its position and WYNDAM PLENTY became unbalanced when these runners were crowded for room between ABORIGINAL which shifted out and SUGAR AND SWEET which shifted in. No action was taken. For the major part of the race, SUGAR AND SWEET hung in, making the turn near the 600 Metres shifted ground, causing some crowding to ABORIGINAL which as a result was steadied, then making the Home Turn again shifted ground, causing crowding to ABORIGINAL and FANTASTICO which as a result brushed the running rail. On straightening, FREE WAY was shifted to the inside of FANTASTICO into clear running, then after the 200 Metres was shifted to the outside of DANEMAN HILL to continue going forward. In the Straight, ABORIGINAL hung in and near the winning post raced close to the heels of CHAMP DE UNION. FANTASTICO and DANEMAN HILL were sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of FANTASTICO and DANEMAN HILL after the race did not show any significant findings. DRAGON HORSE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, DRAGON HORSE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, DRAGON HORSE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HK ISLAND VICTORY and CHAMP DE UNION were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported WYNDAM PLENTY had lost its left front plate.
