Racing Incident Report

O Doleuze, rider of GREEN IN BLUE, was fined $2,000 for negligently failing to declare at the time of declarations that he would be 2 lbs overweight [Rule 82(3)]. SUNNY RIVIERA was slow to begin. With the intention of being ridden quietly from an outside gate, WINNING SUNSHINE was immediately steadied and taken across behind runners to a position on the rail. Turning into the Home Straight on the first occasion, MASTERY lost its footing and blundered. In the middle stages, WINNING SUNSHINE proved difficult to settle. Prior to straightening, WINNING SUNSHINE was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of BOUNTIFUL which was giving ground. Near the 200 Metres, SOCRATES was bumped by KA KA WIN which was carried out by SPRINTER which momentarily shifted ground. After the 200 Metres, SOCRATES, which was giving ground, was steadied away from the heels of DASH AHEAD which shifted in. Over the concluding stages, GREEN IN BLUE hung in. Throughout the race, BOUNTIFUL raced wide and without cover. C Brown (SOCRATES) said he had been instructed to lead or have the horse as far forward as possible without making too much use of it. He said SOCRATES was a little slow to begin and he then rode along to obtain a position behind the leaders one off the fence. He said SOCRATES is a big horse and at no stage appeared comfortable racing on tonight's track conditions, on a number of occasions lost its footing and was not properly balanced. SOCRATES was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SOCRATES after the race did not show any significant findings. GREEN IN BLUE and COUNTRY BOY were sent for sampling.
