Racing Incident Report

B Prebble was fined $2,000 for accepting the riding engagements on both LUCKY STALLION and THE ONLY ONE. C Brown was substituted as the rider of THE ONLY ONE [Rule 82(4)]. Mr D E Ferraris, trainer of PHOENIX FORTUNE, was fined $3,000 for presenting that horse to race when incorrectly saddled [Rule 53(5)]. On jumping, SUNRISE RAINBOW and PHOENIX FORTUNE bumped. Shortly afterwards, SUNRISE RAINBOW was crowded for room between EASTKOWLOON SPIRIT and PHOENIX FORTUNE which was carried out by BUDDIES POWER which in turn was carried out by LUCKY STALLION. Shortly after the start, KING OF THE TURF, which had been slow to begin, was checked when crowded for room between CLASSA WIN which shifted in slightly after bumping with DANSKE VERY MUCH and DANRIVA which on jumping was carried out by THE ONLY ONE. Near the 1300 Metres, LUCKY STALLION shifted in and momentarily crowded SIR OCTAVIUS. In the early and middle stages, DANSKE VERY MUCH raced fiercely. At the 600 Metres, BUDDIES POWER shifted in, brushed the running rail and became unbalanced. SIR OCTAVIUS and THE ONLY ONE, which were following, were hampered in consequence. Also at the 600 Metres, CLASSA WIN was checked away from the heels of DANRIVA. Making the Home Turn, CLASSA WIN was held up on the heels of THE ONLY ONE. Over the concluding stages, EASTKOWLOON SPIRIT shifted in when being ridden out, resulting in DANRIVA being inconvenienced. THE ONLY ONE was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of THE ONLY ONE after the race did not show any significant findings. PHOENIX FORTUNE and SUNRISE RAINBOW were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 21 April 2005)
THE ONLY ONE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. THE ONLY ONE was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer K W Lui this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, THE ONLY ONE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
