Racing Incident Report

PHOENIX FORTUNE and DELIGHTFUL WIN were slow to begin. In the early stages, KING OF WIN and LANCETTIER raced wide and without cover. Just prior to the winning post, WONG'S SUCCESS, which in the Straight hung in, was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of LUCKY SIXER. Because of this, WONG'S SUCCESS was not ridden out to the end of the race. Apprentice C W Wong (LUCKY SIXER), 2nd placegetter, was told he is to ensure he rides all mounts out to the end of the race where possible. Y T Cheng (GREENESSY) explained the horse was slow to begin as it was at its last start. He said he then rode GREENESSY along, however, the horse failed to muster speed and travelled at the rear until straightening when he shifted towards the outside into clear running. He said when shifting out he was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BETTER BOY and therefore steadied GREENESSY before shifting further. He said once on the outside GREENESSY finished the race off nicely. B Prebble (THE KING) said after beginning well he allowed his mount to travel forward in the early stages. He said he soon noticed WHATABOB and LUCKY SIXER being hard ridden to go forward on his inside, he therefore elected to steady his mount to ensure it was not left racing wide without cover, bearing in mind it was carrying 133 lbs tonight. He said after the 1300 Metres WHATABOB was crossed by KING OF WIN and as a consequence he raced slightly further back than he had intended. He said he commenced to improve his position prior to straightening and the horse initially responded well, however, its run ended short of the line. THE KING was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. KING OF WIN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of THE KING and KING OF WIN after the race did not show any significant findings. The performances of KING OF WIN and SERIOUS PLAY, which tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, KING OF WIN and SERIOUS PLAY will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WHATABOB and LUCKY SIXER were sent for sampling.
