Racing Incident Report
After arriving on the course, it was noted INDUSTRIAL SUCCESS had a mild skin allergy over its body and neck. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After arriving at the Start, the tongue tie on SYLLABUS was replaced. BEAR DOMINANCE began awkwardly. On jumping, EQUATOR KID was taken across behind runners. Also on jumping, ROOSEVELT and SYLLABUS bumped. NORTHERNER began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of SUCCESSIVE GAINS, then shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded for room between SUCCESSIVE GAINS and BEAR DOMINANCE which shifted in. At the 2000 Metres, NORTHERNER was crowded for room inside DAY OR NIGHT. Making the turn at the 1800 Metres, NORTHERNER became unbalanced when awkwardly placed inside the heels of GREENESSY. In the early part of the Straight, DAY OR NIGHT had some difficulty obtaining clear running. At the 150 Metres, EQUATOR KID, which was closing the race off fairly, was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of DYNAMIC FUN which was giving ground. In the Straight, BEAR DOMINANCE and SYLLABUS hung in. NORTHERNER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of NORTHERNER after the race did not show any significant findings. GREENESSY and BEAR DOMINANCE were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 16 March 2006)
NORTHERNER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. NORTHERNER was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer S Woods this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in both hind legs. Before being allowed to race again, NORTHERNER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
