Racing Incident Report

TOP STITCH was withdrawn on 14.3.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (blood abnormality) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter BAJAN BELL (B Prebble). Before being allowed to race again, TOP STITCH will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. KING PALM was slow to begin. On jumping, GOLDEN FARM, which had begun awkwardly, was bumped by EVER MORE which shifted in. Shortly after the start, CARELESS WHISPER became unbalanced after being bumped by MILLION CHASE. At the 800 Metres, MAGNIFICENT HORSE was steadied away from the heels of GRASS HOPPER which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in away from GOLDEN FARM. Approaching the 600 Metres, CARELESS WHISPER was checked to avoid the heels of MILLION CHASE which itself was steadied away from the heels of GRASS HOPPER which was momentarily steadied away from the heels of GOLDEN FARM (Apprentice H W Lai) which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice Lai was advised to exercise care. Shortly after this incident, MILLION CHASE was checked away from the heels of GRASS HOPPER which was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of EVER MORE which momentarily shifted in. When MILLION CHASE checked, some inconvenience was caused to MAGNIFICENT HORSE. Making the turn after the 600 Metres, BAJAN BELL hung out. Approaching the Home Turn, SMARTY FACE was awkwardly placed inside the hindquarters of GRASS HOPPER. Approaching the 200 Metres, SMARTY FACE was shifted to the outside of GOLDEN FARM which was giving ground. CARELESS WHISPER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, CARELESS WHISPER was examined by the Veterinary Officer.  He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. Before being permitted to race again, CARELESS WHISPER will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. TRUST ME and EVER MORE were sent for sampling. Also after the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on MILLION CHASE at the request of the trainer and this showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, MILLION CHASE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 16 March 2006)
CARELESS WHISPER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. CARELESS WHISPER was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A Lee this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the right front leg. As previously advised, CARELESS WHISPER will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
