Racing Incident Report
SOLDIER ON was withdrawn on 15.5.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (substantial amount of blood in the trachea) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter DANCING FAITH. Before being allowed to race again, SOLDIER ON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Prior to the running of Race 1, it was noted RICH FOR ALL had lost its left front plate while in the holding stables. This plate was refitted. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. FRAMES DEPOT began awkwardly and lost ground. MY PRIDE began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with the hindquarters of CHAMP DE UNION. I'M NO SQUARE began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped DANCING FAITH. Approaching the turn at the 1000 Metres, DANCING FAITH got its head up when being steadied to allow GOLDEN WIN to cross. Also approaching the turn at the 1000 Metres, B Prebble (DR POSSI) reached down with his left hand and adjusted his foot in the stirrup. In the early and middle stages, GRAND COMMANDS travelled wide and without cover. After the 200 Metres, RICH FOR ALL, which was commencing to close the race off strongly, was shifted to the outside of GRAND COMMANDS to continue going forward. Just prior to the winning post, GRAND COMMANDS was inconvenienced inside RICH FOR ALL which shifted in slightly. Following the race, F Coetzee (I'M NO SQUARE) reported the horse made an abnormal breathing noise mid-race. WAFER KING was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of WAFER KING after the race did not show any significant findings. MY PRIDE, CHAMP DE UNION and RICH FOR ALL were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 18 May 2006)
The Veterinary Officer reported that LUCKY CORDELIA was this afternoon found to be lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY CORDELIA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
