Racing Incident Report

SHINING DRAGON began awkwardly, bumped with CLASSA SUPREME and then became unbalanced. Shortly after the start, SOLDIER ON blundered after being bumped by ROCKET WIN which shifted in after being bumped by MAINLAND MASTER which shifted ground on jumping. Also shortly after the start, BAUHINIA, which got its head up when being restrained to be taken across behind runners, was checked away from the heels of CLASSA SUPREME which shifted out after being bumped by SHINING DRAGON. Near the 1200 Metres, SPEED OF LIGHT was steadied away from the heels of SHINING DRAGON which shifted to a position on the fence. At the 200 Metres, PRIMIATA was steadied away from the heels of ROCKET WIN. Also at the 200 Metres, CHALLENGER was steadied away from the heels of SPEED OF LIGHT which commenced to shift out. Shortly after the 200 Metres, CLASSA SUPREME and ROCKET WIN became unbalanced after bumping as a result of CLASSA SUPREME shifting ground after being contacted by SPEED OF LIGHT (Apprentice K T Yeung) which shifted towards the outside of KING HOGAN. Apprentice Yeung was advised to exercise care. For some distance approaching and passing the 150 Metres, BAUHINIA was steadied when awkwardly placed between MAINLAND MASTER which was giving ground and CHALLENGER. Approaching the winning post, CHALLENGER was steadied when unable to improve between KING HOGAN and SPEED OF LIGHT. D Nikolic (KING HOGAN) explained the intention had been to ride the horse in as forward a position as possible with cover. He said because of the way the race was run, after passing the 1200 Metres he found himself racing three wide without cover and therefore he improved his position to shift across to race outside the leader at the 900 Metres. When questioned regarding the poor performance of CLASSA SUPREME, Apprentice H W Lai said after being inconvenienced at the start he required to make use of the horse in the first 400 Metres to obtain a forward position. He said passing the 1200 Metres he was able to shift across into a two wide position to avoid being caught wide, however, in his opinion the use made of CLASSA SUPREME in the early stages had a bearing on its failure to finish the race off. CLASSA SUPREME was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CLASSA SUPREME after the race did not show any significant findings. ROCKET WIN, SUPER DANA and DANRIVA were sent for sampling.
