Racing Incident Report

On jumping, ESPERANZA was steadied when crowded for room between DISGUISE and VICTORY CODE. UNIQUE SPEED blundered on jumping and lost ground. WINNING SUCCESS was slow to begin. At the 100 Metres, CALIFORNIA HEART was steadied away from the heels of DISGUISE. In the Straight, SOLAR EMPIRE hung in. Throughout the race, THE KING travelled wide and without cover. D Nikolic (OCEAN TRANQUIL) explained he made some use of the horse in the early stages to ride it slightly further forward than is usual because of the manner in which he believed the track was racing. He said after the 1000 Metres he called to the rider of DISGUISE on several occasions which was racing forward of him on his outside. He said making the turn at the 800 Metres DISGUISE shifted in slightly, causing him some inconvenience and then continued to race tight on his outside. He said to have maintained his position inside DISGUISE would have required him to ride OCEAN TRANQUIL along which in his opinion would not have suited the horse. He said after the 600 Metres DISGUISE again shifted in slightly and he steadied away from the heels of that runner. D Nikolic was told where circumstances permit he should ensure he maintains his position in the run. When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight, A Delpech (SECRET OF KINGS) said on straightening he balanced his mount, commenced to ride along hands and heels and at that time was behind WINNING SUCCESS. He said he hoped WINNING SUCCESS which was favourite of the race would carry him forward, however, after the 300 Metres when it became apparent to him this would not happen, he shifted to the inside of that horse. He said he continued to ride SECRET OF KINGS along, however, he was aware SOLAR EMPIRE was giving ground in front of him, therefore he did not use the whip as in his opinion he would run close to the heels of SOLAR EMPIRE. He said after the 200 Metres he shifted to the outside of SOLAR EMPIRE and after the 100 Metres then obtained clear running outside RELY ON ME at which point he pulled the whip on SECRET OF KINGS. A Delpech was severely reprimanded and told his riding in the Straight bordered on placing him in breach of a serious Rule. N Ryan (WINNING SUCCESS), which performed poorly, said his mount appeared not to stride out freely on today's track. WINNING SUCCESS was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. VICTORY CODE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of WINNING SUCCESS and VICTORY CODE after the race did not show any significant findings. DISGUISE and TERRAFERMA were sent for sampling.
