Racing Incident Report
B Prebble (AS YOU WISH) was severely reprimanded for being late into the Parade Ring. PAY-DAY began awkwardly, then despite being ridden along did not muster speed and as a consequence travelled much further back than is usual. FUN CRUISER began awkwardly, got its head up, then despite being ridden along tailed out. The performance of FUN CRUISER was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FUN CRUISER will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Near the 1100 Metres, AS YOU WISH was steadied away from the heels of DANSING FUN. In the middle stages, AS YOU WISH hung out and travelled wide on the course. S K Sit (MULTI-WIN SPIRIT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that prior to straightening he shifted his mount out when not clear of FIGHT BACK, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked. S K Sit was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday 1 April 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday 18 March 2007. After the 400 Metres, PAY-DAY, which was commencing to close the race off, was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between PLEASURE PLEASURE and SHANGHAI DELIGHT which at this time shifted out. In the Straight, MULTI-WIN SPIRIT hung in, near the 200 Metres shifted ground, causing crowding to SUPER DRAGON and STAR PRODIGY, both of which as a result were steadied. No action was taken. At the 100 Metres, DRAGON INN, which was giving ground, was steadied when crowded for room inside PAY-DAY which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in away from SHANGHAI DELIGHT which itself shifted in. No action was taken. Throughout the race, SUPER DRAGON travelled wide and without cover. The performance of FIGHT BACK, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FIGHT BACK will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. AS YOU WISH, FUN CRUISER and FIGHT BACK were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of AS YOU WISH, FUN CRUISER and FIGHT BACK after the race did not show any significant findings. UNIVERSAL KOMISSAR and CENAMIRA were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 12 March 2007)
FUN CRUISER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. FUN CRUISER was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C H Yip yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. As previously advised, FUN CRUISER will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
