Racing Incident Report

Whilst in the holding stalls, SUPER CHARGE shifted its right front plate. This plate was reset. NEW COMMAND, which was restless in its stall, was slow to begin. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, PRIMIATA was steadied and shifted across to the rail. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, QI'S PET, which had been hard ridden to maintain its position, was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of SUDDEN SPLENDOR which shifted in. In the early stages, KEY WINNER was taken across behind runners. In the early and middle stages, SUDDEN SPLENDOR travelled wide and without cover. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, CHATER DE LAGO became unbalanced, bumped the running rail and was checked when crowded for room inside LIGHTNING SPEED which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in after initially being brushed by QI'S PET which was racing tight to its outside. In the circumstances, no action was taken. At the 250 Metres, O Doleuze (LIGHTNING SPEED) dropped his whip. After the 200 Metres, A Delpech (CHATER DE LAGO) momentarily dropped his left rein. At the 150 Metres, PRIMIATA was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between CHATER DE LAGO and SURE HERO, both of which shifted ground. When questioned, G Mossé (SUPER CHARGE) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in a rearward position from an awkward draw. Mr A Lee, trainer of SUPER CHARGE, confirmed the riding instructions issued to G Mossé and said in recent times the horse had been ridden in a forward position regardless of its draw. He said however at its final start of the last racing season when ridden in a forward position over the same course and distance from a wide draw on a rain affected track, SUPER CHARGE was beaten nearly 5 lengths. He said at its other recent starts SUPER CHARGE when ridden in a forward position had drawn more favourably. He added SUPER CHARGE had previously been ridden more quietly when having drawn wide barriers. He said because of the circumstances he felt it was in SUPER CHARGE's best interest to be ridden quietly. Mr Lee was told in similar circumstances he should inform the Stewards of changes to the horse's recent racing pattern. NEW COMMAND was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. QI'S PET was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of NEW COMMAND and QI'S PET after the race did not show any significant findings. CHATER DE LAGO and BRILLIANT ONE were sent for sampling.
