Racing Incident Report

On jumping, MOONGLOW and NATURAL FATCHOY bumped. HANNAH KING PRAWN was slow into stride after being bumped by KA KA SMART. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, KA KA SMART failed to muster speed. Passing the 1200 Metres, MOONGLOW raced tight inside CLASSIC REUNION which had its head on the side and was hanging in. At the 1000 Metres, CLASSIC REUNION was steadied when crowded for room between MOONGLOW and HANNAH KING PRAWN which was carried in by AMBITIOUS OWNER (K T Yeung). K T Yeung was advised to exercise greater care. At the 900 Metres, TOPBRIDGE was steadied away from the heels of CLASSIC REUNION. At the 800 Metres, HANNAH KING PRAWN was left racing wide and without cover. For a considerable distance after the 400 Metres and again near the 200 Metres, AMAZING VENTURE had difficulty improving when tightened for room between NATURAL FATCHOY and MOONGLOW. Over the concluding stages, CLASSIC REUNION hung in. M Du Plessis (ACCELERATOR) explained he had been asked to allow the horse to settle in the early stages and have it finish the race off. He said these instructions were the same as when he rode the horse at its most recent race start. He said today ACCELERATOR began awkwardly with him and shifted in. He said because of this he had to straighten his mount and as a result a number of runners went forward of him. He said in accordance with his instructions he then took ACCELERATOR back to the rear and crossed to the fence to avoid being caught wide. He said ACCELERATOR closed the race off strongly. AMAZING VENTURE, DASH and KA KA SMART were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, KA KA SMART was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was distressed. Before being allowed to race again, KA KA SMART will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of AMAZING VENTURE and DASH after the race did not show any significant findings. BIG PROFIT and AMBITIOUS OWNER were sent for sampling.
