Racing Incident Report
SPLENDID SAILS was a little slow to begin. Making the turn after the 700 Metres, DOUBLE FANTASY hung out. Making the Home Turn, VALUE CHOICE was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of WINNING CHAMP which was giving ground. At the 350 Metres, SUPER RED, which was commencing to give ground, was steadied when crowded for room between DOUBLE FANTASY which shifted in while hanging and TRIUMPHANT GLORY which shifted to the outside of KING'S CHOICE into clear running. No action was taken. In the Straight, DOUBLE FANTASY hung in and TELECOM PERFECT hung out. Throughout the race, WINNING CHAMP travelled wide and without cover and gave ground from the 700 Metres. The performances of MILLION CHASE and WINNING CHAMP, which tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MILLION CHASE and WINNING CHAMP will both be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. E Saint-Martin (MAINLAND MASTER), which performed poorly, said his mount began awkwardly, hung in in the early stages and throughout the race felt restricted in its action. Before being allowed to race again, MAINLAND MASTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MAINLAND MASTER, VALUE CHOICE and MILLION CHASE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MAINLAND MASTER and VALUE CHOICE after the race did not show any significant findings while a veterinary inspection of MILLION CHASE after the race revealed the horse to have a probable displacement of the soft palate. TRIUMPHANT GLORY, DOUBLE FANTASY and DASHING WINNER were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 13 March 2008)
MAINLAND MASTER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time there were no significant findings. MAINLAND MASTER was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer A Schutz this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have a stiff and restriction action. As previously advised, MAINLAND MASTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
