Racing Incident Report

HOME WITH GLORY was slow to begin. HONG KONG FAT and PERFECT FIT bumped at the start. A short distance later, HONG KONG FAT was steadied when crowded for room between PERFECT FIT and BRILLIANT CHARIOT which shifted in. WHITE HART KING was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. When being steadied to allow PERFECT JOY to cross approaching the winning post on the first occasion, TOUCH WELL got its head up and proved very difficult to settle. For a considerable distance after this, TOUCH WELL proved very difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions. After the 1100 Metres, HOME WITH GLORY proved difficult to settle and got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of HONG KONG FAT which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of TOUCH WELL. In the early part of the Straight, RAY’S FAVOURITE got its head on the side, hung in and proved difficult to ride. C W Wong (PERFECT JOY) was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race wherever possible. When questioned, Trainer T W Leung (HOME WITH GLORY) stated that he had instructed K C Leung to refrain from using the whip in tonight’s race until near the 100 Metres. He said he advised Jockey Leung that if HOME WITH GLORY was not responding to being ridden hands and heels, he was allowed to use the whip, however, he should do so sparingly as he is of the opinion that the horse does not necessarily benefit by being ridden with the whip. Mr Leung was advised of the necessity for horses to be ridden in a consistent manner and the Stewards would monitor the way in which HOME WITH GLORY is ridden in its future starts. B Prebble (TOUCH WELL) reported that after over-racing for a significant portion of tonight’s race, the horse appeared to him to choke down as it made an abnormal breathing noise in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of TOUCH WELL after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, TOUCH WELL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the race, M Du Plessis (HONG KONG FAT) reported that the horse did not feel comfortable in its action in tonight’s race. A veterinary inspection of HONG KONG FAT after the race did not show any significant findings. BRILLIANT CHARIOT and RAY’S FAVOURITE were sent for sampling.
<26/4/2012 Additional Veterinary Report>TOUCH WELL, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. TOUCH WELL was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer K L Man this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. As previously advised, TOUCH WELL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
