Racing Incident Report

1 7 STRAIGHT TO GLORY (K340) Bumped near the 300 Metres. Lay out under pressure over the final 200 Metres. Near the 100 Metres K C Leung dropped his left rein for a number of strides. Sent for sampling post-race.
2 13 LUCKY CANDY (L041) Sent for sampling post-race.
3 14 SPARKLING FELLOW (K175) Bumped at the start. Approaching the 300 Metres shifted to the inside of METRO POWER to obtain clear running and as a result made contact with STRAIGHT TO GLORY. Near the 150 Metres raced tight between METRO POWER and STRAIGHT TO GLORY which lay out. Prior to declaring weighed-in Trainer D J Hall viewed the patrol films to ascertain if there were grounds for a protest/objection against STRAIGHT TO GLORY being declared the winner due to SPARKLING FELLOW racing tight to the outside of STRAIGHT TO GLORY near the 150 Metres. When Mr Hall declined to lodge a protest/objection and the Stewards were satisfied that there were not sufficient grounds, having regard to the margin of ¾ length between the two horses at the finish weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.
4 12 LIGHTNESS OF MUSIC (K436) Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with FIERY STEED.
5 10 PARENTS' LOVE (H405) Over the final 300 Metres lay in under pressure.
6 3 METRO POWER (K408) No report.
7 2 MICKLEY (K082) For a short distance near the 250 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running between MASTER OF ALL and WATCH LEGEND which was giving ground.
8 6 MASTER OF ALL (H177) No report.
9 1 FAST RESPONDER (J295) Apprentice H Y Yuen stated that after her mount jumped awkwardly and made contact with LIGHTNESS OF MUSIC it settled further back than intended. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
10 5 EVER LUCK (K235) Jumped only fairly, shifted out and made contact with SPARKLING FELLOW. J Orman stated that his mount, in his opinion, did not appreciate the "Good to Yielding” track conditions and may be better suited by being stepped back up to 1200 Metres. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have a laceration to the right hind leg.
11 11 LOOKING BRIGHT (K315) M F Poon stated that his mount raced too keenly in the early stages and as a result could not finish off in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. Sent for sampling post-race.
12 4 ALPHA STRIKE (L019) J Moreira stated that his mount came under pressure from the 500 Metres and failed to finish the race off thereafter. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be displaying an epiglottic entrapment.
13 9 FIERY STEED (K575) Bumped at the start. After travelling a short distance was eased to avoid LOOKING BRIGHT which shifted in and away from ALPHA STRIKE.
14 8 WATCH LEGEND (L313) Jumped only fairly. K Teetan stated that his mount, which was having its first race start in Hong Kong, was stirred up prior to the event. He said when WATCH LEGEND commenced to give ground over the concluding stages he eased it down when he felt there may be something amiss with it. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, WATCH LEGEND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
