Racing Incident Report

Pla. Horse No. Horse Incident
3 PACKING KING (K570) Z Purton was fined a sum of $2,000 for using the whip on consecutive occasions in 2 consecutive strides approaching the 150 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.
11 SILVER SPURS (J043) J Moreira pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference approaching the 800 Metres (see LEADING DRAGON). Sent for sampling post-race.
9 POLAR PATCH (L211) L Ferraris stated that from a more favourable barrier he was asked to hold an on-pace position.
4 GENIUS BABY (K132) No report.
13 RISING ELITE (K544) No report.
5 BEAUTY AWARD (L326) Slow to begin.
14 SUNNY Q (J223) Approaching the 400 Metres shifted out to continue to obtain clear running and as a result made contact with GIANT LEAP. SUNNY Q was then held up for clear running for a short distance behind RISING ELITE.
1 CALL ME SPARKLE (K571) Shifted out on jumping and made contact with GRAND PATCH.
7 MEGA AWESOME (L323) No report.
6 GRAND PATCH (L293) Near the 1000 Metres, when racing keenly, shifted in towards JUBILANT STAR and as a result was steadied away from JUBILANT STAR. H Bowman stated that the intention was to hold a more forward position but when his mount jumped only fairly and then was crowded by CALL ME SPARKLE which shifted out at the start it settled further back than anticipated. He said GRAND PATCH found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight from back in the field due to the early and middle stages being run slightly outside of standard time. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
8 LEADING DRAGON (L083) J Moreira (SILVER SPURS) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 800 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of LEADING DRAGON, resulting in LEADING DRAGON being checked to avoid SILVER SPURS. J Moreira was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Saturday, 13 June 2026 at Sha Tin. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record. Apprentice P N Wong stated that the instructions were to lead. She said when J Moreira, rider of SILVER SPURS, showed the intent in the early stages to cross her mount she elected to obtain a position with cover behind that runner. She added that when under pressure in the Home Straight LEADING DRAGON finished the race off in a one-paced manner. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
2 GIANT LEAP (J143) Raced keenly in the middle stages. Bumped approaching the 400 Metres. Apprentice H Y Yuen stated that the instructions were to hold a midfield position from a wide barrier. She said when unable to obtain cover in the early stages GIANT LEAP raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event before giving ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
10 JUBILANT STAR (K410) E Brown expressed concern with the horse’s action in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, JUBILANT STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. <26/5/2026 Additional Veterinary Report> After the race, JUBILANT STAR was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. JUBILANT STAR was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D J Hall yesterday morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have multi-limb lameness. As previously advised, JUBILANT STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
12 GROOVY FEELING (J515) Bounded on jumping and as a result lost ground.
