When questioned rider stated that after settling back in the field he placed his mount under pressure near the 500M to improve. He said as he did so his mount commenced to hang in and when a runner, which was racing in advance of him, shifted out that resulted in his mount improving to the inside of the heels of that runner. He said as a consequence and due to the racing manners of his horse he elected to shift in to obtain clear running and then was held up for clear running between the 300M and the 200M before finishing the race off well thereafter. The Stewards found the tactics adopted by rider were reasonable in the circumstances - Race 355.
