Racing Incident Report
After being ridden along in the early stages, NAMJONG TURBO failed to muster speed, then travelled wide and without cover for the majority of the race and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of NAMJONG TURBO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of NAMJONG TURBO, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, NAMJONG TURBO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After being ridden along to obtain a forward position in the early stages, SPICY SIAM was then taken across behind runners approaching the winning post on the first occasion when left racing wide.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, GOLD TARTINI and SUPER BRAND were crowded for room inside SUISSE D’OR which changed stride, got its head on the side and shifted in of its own accord. A short distance later, GOLD TARTINI was checked when crowded for room inside SUPER BRAND which was taken in by SUISSE D’OR which was in turn taken in by MAN AND MING (G Mosse) which, despite the efforts of its rider, got its head on the side and shifted in. This incident was compounded when BUDDY WATSON, which had shifted in to take up the ground created by MAN AND MING laying in, then shifted in of its own accord marginally and made contact with MAN AND MING, resulting in that horse being taken in and causing SUISSE D’OR to be crowded for room. As there were a number of circumstances which contributed to this incident, no further action was taken other than to remind G Mosse of his obligation to make every endeavour to ensure runners to his inside are left with comfortable racing room.
After the 500 Metres, GOLD TARTINI and ABLE DRAGON raced tight as GOLD TARTINI improved into tight running between ABLE DRAGON and SUPER BRAND which was giving ground.
Rounding the Home Turn, TIPPERARY DAVOR was shifted in away from the heels of BEAR SUPREME and shortly after entering the Straight was shifted in away from the heels of GOLD TARTINI. TIPPERARY DAVOR was then held up for clear running behind GOLD TARTINI and BUDDY WATSON which was giving ground.
SUPERKING DRAGON travelled wide and without cover throughout the race.
When questioned, O Doleuze stated that he was instructed to ride KENSWORTH KID along in the early stages and have the horse travel as close to the main body of the field as possible. He said KENSWORTH KID began very awkwardly and in accordance with his instructions he rode the horse along vigorously in the early stages including using the whip on a number of occasions. He said despite being ridden in this manner, KENSWORTH KID did not show any early speed and was a clear last passing the winning post on the first occasion. He said he continued to ride KENSWORTH KID along vigorously including continuing to use the whip on the horse to have it travel better, however, despite his riding the horse along in a vigorous manner, KENSWORTH KID became detached from the field. He added entering the Back Straight he continued to ride the horse along in order to tack onto the main body of the field and after the 1000 Metres he used the whip in the left hand in an endeavour to have it obtain a closer position. He said however KENSWORTH KID continued to race detached from the main field despite being continuously ridden. He said rounding the Home Turn he was following SPICY SIAM and, having in mind that the horse had been ridden along for the major part of the race, he followed that horse with a view to shifting to its outside at the entrance to the Straight. He said he shifted KENSWORTH KID to the outside of SPICY SIAM shortly after entering the Straight and continued to ride the horse out with the whip in the left hand and KENSWORTH KID then finished off the race well. O Doleuze did say that the pace of the race in the early and middle stages was particularly fast and that this had contributed to KENSWORTH KID getting out of its ground but then also being able to close off the race in the Straight.
A veterinary inspection of SUPER BRAND immediately following the race revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils.
A veterinary inspection of MAN AND MING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GOLD TARTINI, SPICY SIAM and SUISSE D’OR were sent for sampling.
