Racing Incident Report
Pla. | Horse No. | Horse | Incident |
| 11 | FUN TOGETHER (H041) | Sent for sampling post-race. |
| 8 | BEAUTY FIT (E279) | As the start was being effected lunged forward and made heavy contact with the starting gate, opening its gate slightly prior to the remaining starting gates opening and BEAUTY FIT becoming unbalanced. As the Stewards were satisfied that BEAUTY FIT had not gained any advantage from such occurrence, weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race. |
| 10 | SWEET BRIAR (H044) | In the middle stages raced keenly. From the 400 Metres was held up for clear running when endeavouring to obtain a narrow run between GREEN N WHITE and SOLID IMPACT and near the 300 Metres shifted out and made contact with SOLID IMPACT. |
| 2 | AMAZING VICTORY (G123) | Due to the slow pace in the middle stages commenced to race keenly leaving the 900 Metres and for some distance thereafter was steadied away from SWEET BRIAR. When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight, K C Leung stated that after being held up behind SWEET BRIAR, he then shifted to that horse’s outside leaving the 400 Metres in an attempt to secure clear running. He said when a run between SOLID IMPACT and FASHION LEGEND did not develop, he continued to remain held up for clear running behind SOLID IMPACT. He added near the 250 Metres he then shifted to the inside of SOLID IMPACT in an attempt to secure clear running, but when AMAZING VICTORY did not quicken to take advantage of a run between SOLID IMPACT and SWEET BRIAR, he then continued to be held up for clear running, particularly when SWEET BRIAR shifted out under pressure. He further stated that near the 150 Metres he directed his mount to the inside of SWEET BRIAR and BEAUTY FIT where he secured clear running approaching the 100 Metres and AMAZING VICTORY finished the race off strongly. The Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Leung were reasonable in the circumstances. |
| 5 | BLUE MARLIN (H078) | When questioned regarding his riding of BLUE MARLIN, K Teetan stated that from the outside barrier he was instructed to attempt to obtain a midfield position with cover. He said in the early stages, when caught wide, he elected to restrain BLUE MARLIN in an attempt to obtain cover behind FASHION LEGEND, but due to the pace of the event in the middle stages being run outside of standard, it took some time for BLUE MARLIN to respond to his efforts to be positioned behind FASHION LEGEND in order to comply with his instructions. He added when CALIFORNIA VOCE held its position to his inside, he was unable to obtain cover behind FASHION LEGEND until near the 650 Metres and in the Home Straight BLUE MARLIN found the line reasonably well. K Teetan added that whilst the opportunity was available for him to take up a more forward position, he felt had he had done so, this would have been in contrast to the instructions that he had been issued. Trainer D J Whyte confirmed the instructions issued. |
| 9 | GREEN N WHITE (H186) | When questioned regarding the performance of GREEN N WHITE, Z Purton stated that his mount, which was racing after a break of almost eight weeks, did not finish the race off strongly over the concluding stages and, in his opinion, would derive benefit from today’s performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Sent for sampling post-race. |
| 4 | CALIFORNIA VOCE (H258) | No report. |
| 14 | CHARITY BINGO (H254) | Jumped only fairly. |
| 3 | KA YING GENERATION (J075) | Jumped awkwardly. |
| 7 | SOLID IMPACT (E447) | Bumped near the 300 Metres. Leaving the 100 Metres was steadied away from SWEET BRIAR (L Hewitson) which shifted out. L Hewitson was advised to exercise more care. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. |
| 13 | SETANTA (G095) | No report. |
| 1 | FASHION LEGEND (J080) | No report. |
| 6 | SUPER WINNER (C341) | After the race, K H Chan could offer no explanation for his mount’s disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. |
| 12 | RATTAN KINGDOM (G035) | Noted to have bled from both nostrils after the race. Before being allowed to race again, RATTAN KINGDOM will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. |
