1 5 FLAMINGO TRILLION (H192) K C Leung was found guilty of a careless riding charge for causing interference shortly after the start (see SUPREME AGILITY). K C Leung will be questioned as to whether he used his whip forward of the saddle over the concluding stages. Sent for sampling post-race. <14/7/2024 10 July 2024 Happy Valley Racemeeting – Race 9 (820)> K C Leung was fined the sum of $5,000 for using his whip on a horse forward of the saddle.
2 7 ROMANTIC LAOS (G476) Crowded shortly after the start. After improving into a tight run to the inside of FLAMINGO TRILLION near the 100 Metres then lay in and away from that runner for a short distance thereafter, resulting in its rider H Bowman having to correct his mount. Prior to declaring weighed-in, Jockey H Bowman and Trainer W K Mo viewed the patrol films to ascertain if there were grounds for a protest/objection against FLAMINGO TRILLION being declared the winner in relation to an incident which occurred inside the 100 Metres. When Jockey Bowman and Trainer Mo declined to lodge a protest/objection and the Stewards were satisfied that there were not grounds to do so, weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge. Sent for sampling post-race.
3 2 HAMERON (H265) L Ferraris was fined $2,000 for initially presenting himself to be weighed out with the incorrect saddle cloth number. After the 200 Metres was bumped by ROMANTIC LAOS which shifted in. Over the final 100 Metres raced tight to the inside of ROMANTIC LAOS.
4 1 AWESOME FLUKE (J050) No report.
5 3 SUPREME AGILITY (J267) K C Leung (FLAMINGO TRILLION) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that shortly after the start he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of RISING FROM ASHES, resulting in RISING FROM ASHES being taken in and also forcing ROMANTIC LAOS onto SUPREME AGILITY, resulting in SUPREME AGILITY having to be checked and losing its running between ROMANTIC LAOS and AWESOME FLUKE. Having regard to Jockey Leung holding confirmed riding engagements for the last racemeeting and in accordance with previous practices, he was fined the sum of $35,000 in lieu of a one-day suspension. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record within his last 200 rides. Sent for sampling post-race.
6 6 PERFECT TEAM (H120) Jumped only fairly.
7 8 SAMARKAND (H070) Shortly after the start was checked when crowded between SUPREME AGILITY and ROMANTIC LAOS which was taken in by RISING FROM ASHES which in turn was taken in by FLAMINGO TRILLION (K C Leung). K C Leung was reprimanded.
8 12 G LINER (H072) <11/7/2024 Additional Veterinary Reports> The Veterinary Surgeon reported that G LINER was lame in its right front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, G LINER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
9 11 ESCAPE ROUTE (E273) No report.
10 10 ROMANTIC CHARM (H227) A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
11 9 IVY LEAGUE (H116) Near the 550 Metres shifted out when being awkwardly placed close to the heels of RISING FROM ASHES which was giving ground, which also resulted in IVY LEAGUE losing ground. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
12 4 RISING FROM ASHES (G209) Crowded shortly after the start. When questioned, A Hamelin stated that when he was concerned that there may be something amiss with his mount near the 600 Metres, he retired it from the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm and also found it to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. Before being allowed to race again, RISING FROM ASHES will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. <14/7/2024 10 July 2024 Happy Valley Racemeeting – Race 9 (820)> Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
