2 6 INVINCIBLE MISSILE (C037) L Ferraris From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Sent for sampling post-race.
4 7 MANYTHANKS FOREVER (J065) C Y Ho Shifted out at the start and was bumped. Shortly after the start was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.
6 8 WINNING SEVEN (J005) M Barzalona On jumping was bumped by MANYTHANKS FOREVER which shifted out. After travelling a short distance was steadied when crowded by FLYING ROMANTIC which shifted in after making contact with COOL BLUE. Approaching the 300 Metres was contacted on the hindquarters by KASA PAPA (H Bowman) when that runner shifted out slightly to improve. H Bowman was advised to exercise more care.
5 9 COOL BLUE (H011) M Chadwick Bumped at the start. Near the 200 Metres was briefly held up for clear running behind SUPERB MOVE.
11 10 RED MAVERICK (J067) K Teetan After the event, K Teetan reported that his instructions were to endeavour to obtain a midfield position. He said when RED MAVERICK commenced well, he was obliged to allow it to stride forward but the horse raced keenly when positioned outside the lead in the early stages. He said as a consequence RED MAVERICK did not finish the race off in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, RED MAVERICK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
7 11 SUPERB MOVE (G304) H Doyle Shortly after the start was bumped by SUNNY SHINES which shifted out and away from SUPER GLORY. Near the 1400 Metres was bumped by THE AZURE which shifted in. Approaching the 200 Metres raced in restricted room between THE AZURE and MANYTHANKS FOREVER which shifted out slightly. Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when racing tight between MANYTHANKS FOREVER and COOL BLUE.
10 12 SUNNY SHINES (H484) M F Poon (-2) Jumped only fairly. Between the 300 Metres and the 150 Metres was held up for clear running behind SUPER GLORY. After the event, M F Poon stated that after being held up in the early part of the Home Straight SUNNY SHINES lost momentum and as a consequence did not finish the race off thereafter. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

When questioned regarding his riding, Z Purton stated that after following MIGHTY STRENGTH in the event, when that runner shifted out approaching the 450 Metres he elected to improve to its inside to obtain clear running. He said after being briefly held up on the Home Turn he was able to place his mount under full pressure on straightening where LUCKY TOUCH ran on well. Sent for sampling post-race.

When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer Y S Tsui stated that SERGEANT PEPPER had trialed well on 26 November 2024 after its last start. He said he attributed tonight’s improved performance to SERGEANT PEPPER being down in grade and racing over its preferred distance of 1000 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.

After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on CHAMPION METHOD at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, CHAMPION METHOD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Noted to have lost its left hind plate after the race.

C Y Ho was found guilty of a careless riding charge for causing interference approaching the first turn (see GOLDEN DARCI). After the event, C Y Ho stated that his mount raced keenly in the early stages when positioned outside the lead but settled entering the Back Straight. He said from this point LUCKY BANNER did not travel well and gave ground in the Home Straight.
12 9 CHARMING STEED (E494) Z Purton After the event, Z Purton could offer no explanation for his mount’s disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
6 10 CHATER GOLD (J004) K Teetan Shifted in on jumping and was bumped shortly after the start. Near the 50 Metres shifted in towards SURE JOYFUL and was steadied when SURE JOYFUL shifted out slightly.
5 11 GOLDEN DARCI (H470) Y Kawada C Y Ho (LUCKY BANNER) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the first turn he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of FOREVER GLORIOUS, resulting in FOREVER GLORIOUS being taken in onto PRINCE ALEX, resulting in PRINCE ALEX being taken in across the running of GOLDEN DARCI which was checked. C Y Ho was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Thursday, 26 December 2024 at Happy Valley. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record. Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when placed in restricted room between JUMBO FORTUNE and SURE JOYFUL which shifted in slightly.

He said in the Home Straight LOVERO did not respond to his riding and weakened over the concluding stages. The performance of LOVERO, a last start winner, was considered disappointing as compared to its last race start. Before being allowed to race again, LOVERO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

11 8 JUMBO LEGEND (G266) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly and shortly after the start was checked when crowded by SUPER UNICORN which shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. After the race, C Y Ho reported that his mount made a respiratory noise during the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have an epiglottic entrapment.

6 10 SUPER UNICORN (H481) M Barzalona Near the 300 Metres shifted out and made contact with DARING PURSUIT. SUPER UNICORN then lay out in the early part of the Home Straight and after being corrected by its rider shifted in towards SILO, resulting in its rider M Barzalona having to stop riding and straighten his mount near the 150 Metres. Noted to have sustained a small abrasion to the left hind pastern. Sent for sampling post-race.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
5 DH 7 DENFIELD (G471) W Buick When questioned, W Buick stated that in the Home Straight his mount felt awkward in its action when he placed it under pressure but finished the race off reasonably well. Notwithstanding this advice, W Buick was advised that, wherever possible, he should ensure that he continues to ride his mounts out to the finish of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

When questioned, H Bowman stated that the intention was to ride MOMENTS IN TIME conservatively in the early stages as the horse had a tendency to race keenly in its most recent race starts. He said as the start was effected MOMENTS IN TIME shifted in abruptly and made contact with STAR CONTACT and then shortly after was steadied when crowded to the inside of FLAMINGO TRILLION which shifted in. Trainer C S Shum confirmed the instructions and said he issued such instructions as MOMENTS IN TIME had raced disappointingly when ridden in a forward position in its most recent starts when it raced keenly. 9 8 STUNNING PEACH (J301) Z Purton When questioned, Z Purton stated that after being shifted in behind MR ASCENDENCY, STUNNING PEACH reacted adversely and, in his opinion, attempted to jump a section on the track at the 1600 Metres. He said as a result STUNNING PEACH lost ground when it became badly unbalanced. He added when placed under pressure in the Home Straight STUNNING PEACH became held up for clear running behind RED HARE KING for some distance after the 300 Metres and approaching the 150 Metres was obliged to steady his mount when disappointed for clear running between RED HARE KING and FLAMINGO TRILLION when both runners shifted ground slightly. He said as a result his mount lost momentum when it could not be tested for some distance thereafter. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The racing manners of STUNNING PEACH were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, STUNNING PEACH will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial amongst other runners. In addition, before STUNNING PEACH is permitted to race at Happy Valley again, it will also be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial at Happy Valley. Sent for sampling post-race.

Trainer W Y So was fined the sum of $5,000 for breaching the Track Work Regulations as a result of SUNNY SING SPIRIT (K188) wearing the incorrect saddle cloth number during track work this morning. SUNNY SING SPIRIT worked in the Trotting Ring wearing saddle cloth number D186, the allocated saddle cloth for STRIVE FOR GLORY. It should be noted that Mr So’s assistant trainer, Mr C F Wong, reported the incident to the duty Stipendiary Steward officiating at track work this morning and SUNNY SING SPIRIT subsequently worked in the Small All Weather Track wearing its correct saddle cloth number and STRIVE FOR GLORY did not work on any of the training tracks.
