Racing Incident Report
On arrival at the barriers, Z Purton expressed concern over the action of TELECOM PRINCE. A veterinary inspection of TELECOM PRINCE by the Veterinary Officer found that horse to be lame in the right front leg and as such was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of TELECOM PRINCE. Before being allowed to race again, TELECOM PRINCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Following the withdrawal of TELECOM PRINCE, the remainder of the field was removed from the barrier stalls and the start of the race was delayed.
CHINA DELIGHT and LIFE OF BEAUTY bumped at the start.
SUPER HORSE began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped DRAGON PINS which in turn shifted out and hampered CHAMPION MOUNT.
Shortly after the start, DREAM PARTNER became unbalanced when bumped by POWER BLITZ which shifted in.
Near the 1400 Metres, CHAMPION MOUNT, which was being ridden along to maintain its position, raced tight between LIFE OF BEAUTY which initially shifted in before being straightened by its rider and SUPER HORSE which got its head on the side and shifted away from the fence.
Also near the 1400 Metres, DREAM PARTNER got its head up and lost ground when reluctant to maintain its position inside KINGSTON SPARTACUS.
For some distance passing the 1300 Metres, CHINA DELIGHT got its head up when proving difficult to settle.
Passing the 1200 Metres, MOBILE KING was steadied out away from the heels of SURE CHAMP which shifted out away from CHAMPION MOUNT which also shifted out. After this, SURE CHAMP travelled wide and without cover.
After the 700 Metres, LIFE OF BEAUTY commenced to prove very difficult to settle and lost ground when being checked away from the heels of POWER BLITZ. CHAMPION MOUNT, which was following, was hampered in consequence.
Rounding the Home Turn, LIFE OF BEAUTY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of POWER BLITZ.
Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, KINGSTON SPARTACUS was awkwardly placed behind DRAGON PINS.
Passing the 200 Metres, SURE CHAMP shifted in and bumped POWER BLITZ, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced and SURE CHAMP shifting back out which resulted in MOBILE KING having to be steadied and shifted out away from the heels of that horse near the 150 Metres.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that LIFE OF BEAUTY had lost its right hind plate.
A veterinary inspection of POWER BLITZ immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
DRAGON PINS, APPROVE and GOLDEN OSMANTHUS were sent for sampling.
<2/4/2013 Additional Veterinary Report>POWER BLITZ, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. POWER BLITZ was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer P F Yiu this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, POWER BLITZ will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
