Racing Incident Report

Whilst being saddled, LOK WAH TREASURE became fractious, threw its
head about and made contact with the roof of the saddling stalls. After this the horse
was bleeding from a nostril. The Veterinary Surgeon said in his opinion the horse
was not suitable to race. Accordingly it was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.
Before being allowed to race again, LOK WAH TREASURE will be required to
pass an official veterinary examination. MEDIC HERO missed the start slightly,
was then checked when crowded between SONGS OF PRAISE and ANIMATED
PLAYTHING which shifted out abruptly away from TAMBORA STAR. In the
early stages, CRYSTAL STEEL got its head up, then turning out of the Straight the
first time hung out onto the heels of ANIMATED PLAYTHING. In the early and
middle stages, CALVADOS from the outside draw was obliged to race wide and
over the concluding stages tailed out. The performance of CALVADOS was
considered unacceptable. Before the horse can race again, it must perform
satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and must pass an official veterinary
examination. About the 400 Metres, WAIALAE WIN was steadied and shifted to
the outside of STAR WARRIOR, then near the 200 Metres was checked rather
severely and changed course to avoid TAMBORA STAR which was giving ground.
About the 300 Metres, CRYSTAL STEEL shifted out and made contact with
SONGS OF PRAISE. When giving ground in the Straight, SONGS OF PRAISE
hung out. During the race, the whip being used by Apprentice K K Lai
(NATURALLY KING) broke. SONGS OF PRAISE was sent for clinical veterinary
examination and testing. Subsequent to the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said
SONGS OF PRAISE was lame in its off side front leg. Before SONGS OF PRAISE
can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. After
the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said CRYSTAL STEEL was lame in its off side
front leg. Before the horse can race again, it will be required to pass an official
veterinary examination. Also after the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said
NATURALLY KING was significantly lame in its off side front leg. Before
NATURALLY KING can race again, it will be required to perform satisfactorily in
an official barrier trial and will be required to pass an official veterinary
examination. Following the race, it was noted WAIALAE WIN was bleeding from
the near nostril. The Veterinary Surgeon said this was due to a small laceration
inside the nostril and accordingly the horse should not be deemed to have bled.
