Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, RAINBOW AND GOLD became fractious and broke out underneath the front gates of its stall. Acting on veterinary advice that RAINBOW AND GOLD was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the horse. Before being permitted to race again, RAINBOW AND GOLD will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. EQUATOR KID was slow to begin. SUPREME RABBIT, which had been ridden in a rearward position, was slow to begin and shortly after the start shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of KINDRED SPIRITS. In the early and middle stages, MULTIWINNING proved difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up. Near the 1000 Metres, CELLINI, which was proving difficult to settle, shifted out momentarily away from the heels of SERIOUS PLAY. Just prior to straightening, SERIOUS PLAY was crowded for room between CELLINI and UNIVERSAL CHARGER which shifted out. For some distance after straightening, CELEBRATION was held up and unable to obtain clear running between IDOL and CARACOLER. CELEBRATION obtained running between these horses near the 100 Metres. After the 200 Metres, E Legrix (JAZZ BEAT) dropped his whip. After the 200 Metres, EQUATOR KID (G Mossé) fell. As G Mossé was unavailable due to being transported to hospital, an inquiry into this matter will be held at a date to be fixed. Also after the 200 Metres, SUPREME RABBIT was shifted to the outside of PEAK POWER to obtain running and continue going forward. Near the 100 Metres, CELLINI, which was commencing to give ground, became unbalanced and was steadied after being bumped by UNIVERSAL CHARGER which shifted out. MINE HOST and CARACOLER were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported MINE HOST had sustained abrasions to both hind cannons. He also reported EQUATOR KID as a result of its fall had sustained abrasions to the right shoulder and blood was present at the right nostril of the horse. As this blood originated from the nasal passage, the horse was not deemed to have bled.
