Racing Incident Report

MAGIC HANDS began awkwardly, then was bumped by SPARKY which on jumping bounded in the air and shifted in abruptly. PRIME WITNESS and CHIU CHOW BROTHER were slow to begin. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, SOLID CONTACT was tight on the inside of GOLDEN YEARS which was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of HEALTHY FRUITS. At the 300 Metres, KENWOOD MELODY was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of HEALTHY FRUITS which was giving ground. After the 300 Metres, PRIME WITNESS and VICTORY MARBLE bumped on two occasions due mainly to VICTORY MARBLE laying in. GOLDEN YEARS, MEDIC CORPS and SHAXI FORTUNE were sent for sampling. When being eased down following the race, GOLDEN YEARS (W C Marwing), 3rd placegetter, sustained an injury to its right fore leg. This necessitated W C Marwing dismounting and GOLDEN YEARS being attended to on the track by the Veterinary Surgeons. As the Stewards were satisfied W C Marwing had weighed out at not less than his proper weight and there were no circumstances to suggest less than the proper weight was carried by GOLDEN YEARS throughout the race, they declared weighed-in under the provisions of Rule 112(5) without W C Marwing having been officially weighed-in. W C Marwing was subsequently examined by the Club's duty doctor who said he was fit to fulfil his remaining riding engagements. Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported MAGIC HANDS had bled from both nostrils.
