Racing Incident Report

FANTASTIC HORSE began awkwardly and lost ground, as a consequence got well back. FREE WAY began awkwardly. SURE FORTUNE was slow to begin. Near the 800 Metres, JOIN VICTORY was crowded for room inside WIKI WIKI which shifted in when barely clear. Making the turn after the 700 Metres and in the Home Straight, WIKI WIKI hung out. Near the 500 Metes, FANTASTIC HORSE improved into a narrow run between LUCKY CORDELIA and SILLY BOY. Shortly afterwards, FANTASTIC HORSE was checked when crowded for room between LUCKY CORDELIA which shifted in slightly and SILLY BOY (G Schofield) which shifted out. In the circumstances, G Schofield was severely reprimanded and told he must exercise more care. Making the Home Turn, BINGSON hung out. In the Straight, JOIN VICTORY hung out. The declaration of weighed-in was deferred whilst the Stewards considered whether CITY GLORY had had an unfair start [Rule 12(19)]. Evidence was taken from T Mundry, rider of the horse, and Mr D Cruz, trainer of CITY GLORY and the official videos were viewed. It was established that when the gates opened CITY GLORY stood flat-footed, refused to jump and as such took no part in the race. The Stewards were of the opinion CITY GLORY had not had an unfair start and therefore the horse was considered to be a runner. Before being allowed to race again, CITY GLORY will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. LUCKY CORDELIA, WIKI WIKI and JOIN VICTORY were sent for sampling.
