Racing Incident Report
CLASSA VICTORY began awkwardly, got its head up and shifted out. Near the 1800 Metres, CHATER LANE was steadied when awkwardly placed between THISTLEJADE and OUT OF MY WAY. In the early stages, MILITARY OPTION raced wide and without cover. In the middle stages, PACIFIC ALLIANCE hung in and near the 1300 Metres brushed the running rail. Near the 400 Metres, SUPER COMBED was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of MILITARY OPTION which was giving ground. Near the 200 Metres, SUPER COMBED was steadied and shifted to the outside of FORTUNE DANCER when disappointed for running between that horse which shifted in slightly and CHATER LANE. Also near the 200 Metres, THE PIONEER, which was giving ground, was momentarily steadied when crowded for room inside PACIFIC ALLIANCE which was carried in by SEASONS KNACK (D Whyte) which had its head on the side and hung in. After the 200 Metres, OUT OF MY WAY was steadied when disappointed for running inside PACIFIC ALLIANCE which after initially being carried in by SEASONS KNACK shifted further away from that horse. D Whyte was reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount sooner than he did on this occasion. Also after the 200 Metres, CHATER LANE was momentarily steadied when crowded for room between FORTUNE DANCER and THISTLEJADE which shifted out. The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in as they were of the prima facie view an incident occurred near the 200 Metres which cast doubt on whether PACIFIC ALLIANCE should be declared the 3rd placegetter. After viewing the available videos, the Stewards believed this was not an appropriate case in which they should exercise their powers under Rule 123 and accordingly weighed-in was semaphored, confirming the Judge's placings. While it did not influence the decision of the Stewards, it should be noted that neither A Marcus nor the connections of OUT OF MY WAY, 4th placegetter, lodged a protest/objection. SEASONS KNACK and SUPER COMBED were sent for sampling.
