Racing Incident Report
When the gates opened, FORTUNE SMILES bounded in the air, then was further inconvenienced when LUCKY PARADISE which on jumping stumbled then shifted out. SAMBUCA began awkwardly. On jumping, KIDDYLAND and SOLID CONTACT bumped. From an awkward gate shortly after the start, CELESTIAL STEEL got its head up when being steadied to shift across behind runners to a position on the rail. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, WEALTHY TREASURE got its head up when being steadied to shift back to a position behind HELENE MOMENTUM. Near the 1300 Metres, SOLID CONTACT got its head up when being steadied as a result of being momentarily crowded for room by KIDDYLAND. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, CELESTIAL STEEL became badly unbalanced after bumping the running rail. Near the 250 Metres, WEALTHY TREASURE was disappointed for running inside HELENE MOMENTUM, then shifted to the outside of SAMBUCA to find clear running. Throughout the race, JOYFUL SPIRIT raced in a forward position but three wide without cover. G Schofield (CLASSIC MASTER) said he had been instructed to endeavour to ride the horse which had drawn the outside barrier with cover if possible. He said on jumping he immediately steadied CLASSIC MASTER, followed LUCKY PARADISE across, however, the horse proved very difficult to settle when he was unable to obtain cover. He said after the 1200 Metres he went forward of LUCKY PARADISE in the hope of being able to shift across and race outside WEALTHY TREASURE, however, because of the manner in which CLASSIC MASTER was travelling, he was not able to shift across and find cover behind SAMBUCA until near the 700 Metres. Trainer J Moore confirmed the instructions issued to G Schofield. CELESTIAL STEEL and SOLID CONTACT were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of CELESTIAL STEEL and SOLID CONTACT after the race did not show any significant findings. FORTUNE SMILES, HIMALAYA and CLASSIC MASTER were sent for sampling.
