Racing Incident Report

Prior to the race, FASHION JEWELLERY became fractious in the saddling stalls and hit its head on a fan. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer and after consulting the trainer was considered suitable to race. After being boxed, GOLDEN DRAGON became fractious and just prior to the gates opening put its head down, consequently began awkwardly and lost ground. FAT DRAGON was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded for room between ALL FIT and HANDBAG FORTUNE. GOLD SANDFIELD began awkwardly, shifted in, bumped with COOL SWING and shortly afterwards was steadied away from the heels of FASHION JEWELLERY. Near the 900 Metres, MASCOT became unbalanced and lost ground as a result of being bumped on several occasions by ADD THE FUN. Near the 400 Metres, ALL FIT got its head on the side, hung in and brushed HANDBAG FORTUNE. Near the 100 Metres, ALL FIT jumped a patch on the track. S Dye (FASHION JEWELLERY) said it was thought the horse would perform well as a result of the manner it had trialed and worked leading into the race. He said today the horse sweated up badly behind the barriers, then after beginning only fairly did not show the early speed expected of it and because of this he had to ride along to reach the lead. He said throughout the race FASHION JEWELLERY hung out which it had also done in its barrier trials, however, at no stage did FASHION JEWELLERY stretch out as he thought it should, over the concluding stages gave ground and was most disappointing. FASHION JEWELLERY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, FASHION JEWELLERY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse was blowing heavily and appeared agitated. Before being allowed to race again, FASHION JEWELLERY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GOLDEN DRAGON was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of GOLDEN DRAGON after the race did not show any significant findings. ADD THE FUN and ALL FIT were sent for sampling.
