Racing Incident Report

WIN FOR ALL bounded in the air at the start and lost a considerable amount of ground. BALL OF FIRE was slow to begin. WIN FOR ABALONE began very awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. On jumping, HONEYBEE was checked when crowded for room between SIR HUMOR and TABBRIS, both of which shifted ground. Shortly after the start, DRAGON STRIDE lost its position when crowded for room inside SIR HUMOR which then shifted in. For a considerable distance after straightening, BUDDIES SPIRIT raced in restricted room behind TABBRIS and tight inside WEALTHY. Near the 300 Metres, WIN FOR ALL was bumped by HAPPY KID which at this time got its head on the side and shifted out. In the Straight, SHINING GEM got its head on the side and hung out, near the 100 Metres shifted ground, as a result HAPPY KID was momentarily steadied. At the 100 Metres, WIN HUNTER, which was giving ground, was bumped by SIR HUMOR which shifted ground after being bumped by DRAGON STRIDE. WIN FOR ALL and WIN HUNTER were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of WIN FOR ALL after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, WIN HUNTER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, WIN HUNTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WEALTHY and TABBRIS were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported SIR HUMOR was making an abnormal breathing noise. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said an endoscopic examination showed the horse to be a "roarer". The Stewards opened an inquiry into the riding of WIN HUNTER (G Schofield). Evidence was taken from G Schofield, Mr J Moore, the trainer of WIN HUNTER, D Whyte, the rider of WEALTHY and P Payne, the rider of BUDDIES SPIRIT. The inquiry was adjourned until a date and time to be fixed.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 24 May 2004)
WIN HUNTER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. WIN HUNTER was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer J Moore yesterday morning. He said at this time the horse was found to be lame in the right front leg. As previously advised, WIN HUNTER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
