Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, FLASH HARRY, which had made contact with the running rail during its preliminary, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. FLASH HARRY and OPERA MAGIC began awkwardly and as a result lost ground. Shortly after the start, GLORY YEARS was crowded for room between AFRICAN FOREST and LIFELINE RAPIDE. At the 1000 Metres, HAPPY KID and OPERA MAGIC were crowded for room inside AFRICAN FOREST which after proving very difficult to settle got its head up and shifted in when being steadied away from the heels of LIFELINE RAPIDE which shifted in when just clear. In the early stages, MILLION CHASE proved difficult to settle. At the 800 Metres, OPERA MAGIC commenced to over-race, improved towards the inside of the heels of LIFELINE RAPIDE when there was insufficient room and was checked. FLASH HARRY, which was following, was hampered. Near the 600 Metres, LIFELINE RAPIDE was steadied when crowded for room inside GOLDEN GALLOPER which became unbalanced and shifted in after being bumped by BRAVE COMMANDER. No action was taken. Also near the 600 Metres, AFRICAN FOREST was not able to maintain its position between OPERA MAGIC and MILLION CHASE. After the 400 Metres, FLASH HARRY had difficulty obtaining clear running behind SAND DANCE and inside BRAVE COMMANDER. After the 200 Metres, O Doleuze (OPERA MAGIC) dropped his whip. After the 100 Metres, AURELIAN, which was closing the race off, was checked when disappointed for running between SAND DANCE and FLASH HARRY. AURELIAN then did not obtain clear running in the run to the line and was not fully tested. MILLION CHASE and BRAVE COMMANDER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MILLION CHASE and BRAVE COMMANDER after the race did not show any significant findings. HAPPY KID and LUCKY GUYS were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SAND DANCE had sustained a laceration to the left hind cannon. Before being allowed to race again, SAND DANCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
