Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, PERPETUAL PLEASURE was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. The horse was trotted up and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. FORTUNE SMILES began awkwardly. Near the 1600 Metres, when the pace steadied, MILLENNIUM SPIRIT, which was inclined to be laying out, got its head up and was checked away from the heels of SURVEYOR. R Fradd (PERPETUAL PLEASURE) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that at the 200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of ENTERTAINING, causing that horse to be carried in across the rightful running of SURVEYOR which as a result was checked. When SURVEYOR was checked, crowding was caused to MILLENNIUM SPIRIT which was racing to its inside and as a result was steadied. R Fradd was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 18 November 2004 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of this suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting next Wednesday 10 November 2004. In addition, R Fradd was fined $15,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. Near the 100 Metres, PERPETUAL PLEASURE and AMBITIOUS TYCOON came together. F Coetzee (SUPER COMBED) reported on jumping his mount began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. He said when this happened his left knee made heavy contact with the barriers, causing him to become unbalanced. He added in the early stages of the race he was in some discomfort because of this incident, however, his riding in the second half of the race was not affected. FORTUNE SMILES was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE SMILES after the race did not show any significant findings. PERPETUAL PLEASURE and SUPER COMBED were sent for sampling.
